Emergency Needs

Services are provided by appointment only and during hours of operation. If you are currently experiencing a psychiatric emergency that involves a threat to your own life or another’s life, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), 911, or go to the nearest hospitals’ Emergency Room.

MEDICAL INSURANCE

Most patients have health insurance, however I do not participate with any insurance plans and am not a preferred provider associated with any insurance plans. This means that you are responsible for payment on the day of the appointment. Many health insurance plans offer patients reimbursements for some portion of outpatient psychiatric treatment under the category of an out-of-network service. You can call your insurance office to determine the extent of your mental health benefits, as you may be reimbursed for some, but not all the cost of treatment. I welcome filling out any insurance forms necessary such that you can submit a claim to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.

I am also not a Medicare provider. If you have Medicare, and wish to see me, you are required to sign a written agreement that states that you will not submit claims to Medicare for reimbursement.

FEES

Fees are similar to other independent private practice psychiatrists in the California, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC area.

All charges are due on the day of service and are payable by check, debit card, or credit card. Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are accepted. Checks can be made payable to “Jason Wexler, MD”. There is a processing fee for returned checks.

Fee Schedule

Initial Appointment:      $400.00 per hour
50-Minute Session:        $350.00

Missed and Late Appointments

If you are unable to make an appointment, please let me know as soon as possible by calling and leaving a voicemail message.  Because your appointment time is reserved for you, you will be charged the full appointment fee unless you cancel 48 hours in advance (not including weekends or holidays).  Exceptions to the missed appointment fee will be made for weather emergencies. Please be advised that insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for missed appointments.

If you are late for your appointment, you will be seen for the remaining appointment time and will be charged the full amount for the scheduled session.

CONFIDENTIALITY

I am committed to maintaining the utmost privacy and confidentiality of your health information. My notice of privacy practices, as per federal privacy law, may be found here.
