I am currently accepting new patients.

Telemedicine appointments are available and currently the primary means of treatment. This includes either video or phone appointments. If an in-person appointment is needed, I am available approximately once a month at an office in Washington, DC.

Appointments

Regarding what to expect, the first step is a brief email or telephone conversation. During this conversation, I will ask a few questions regarding the nature of the problem that you are facing. If I am able to help and the issue falls within my realm of expertise, then we will schedule an appointment.

Telemedicine

During a weather emergency or public health emergency, such as the Coronavirus Pandemic, video and/or telephone appointments are available. For telemedicine appointments, I am licensed to practice medicine in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC.

Initial Appointment

The initial appointment is usually a 90 - 120 minute session. The goal of the appointment is to obtain a complete history, so that I can develop an understanding of your background. Afterwards, we will discuss the current difficulties that you face. Both are important in order to formulate an accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment plan. Frequently, the treatment involves psychotherapy and/or medication management, and we will also discuss your preferences regarding treatment. A family member, partner, or friend is welcome to attend the appointment in order to provide additional patient history. Please complete the new patient forms located on the Resources tab prior to your appointment.

Follow-up Appointments

Follow-up appointments are usually 50-minutes if therapy is involved, and 25-minutes if only medication management is required. Brief phone calls are a customary part of treatment and are not subject to fees. For purposes of safety and monitoring effects of medication, you must be seen at a minimum, every three months in order to continue patient care. After an absence of contact for three months, you will be discharged from from the clinic. However, you are welcome to ask about re-establishing care at a later date.

Single Consultation for a Second Opinion

Single consultations for a second opinion are 120 - 180 minutes long. The consultation includes a review of your records, a thorough evaluation, and a typed report to be sent to the referring provider. Prior records are to be obtained by you and provided at least three business days prior to the consultation. A family member, partner, or friend is encouraged to attend the appointment.
